New leadership combined with an office relocation presented a delicate design challenge when it came to merging an established corporate culture with unique local flair. In the case of Analysis Group’s Montreal office – the only Canadian branch of the global economic analysis company – attention to design supported a seamless transition and infused a distinct new identity. Charged with introducing a less formal space while still maintaining a high level of refinement, the design team interpreted the client’s concept of farm-to-table – cultivation of simple, local products to produce a beautiful and pure composition – to define the office aesthetic. Humble, imperfect natural materials were handcrafted into beautiful objects – doors, tables, and double-height custom millwork – encourage a sense of transparency, and home-like atmosphere to create unique opportunities for interaction within AG’s standard 100% private-office layout.

Throughout the office, sliding barn doors interrupt glass office fronts, creating transparency and connectivity which prioritizes employee productivity without total separation or isolation. Playful elements in communal areas alleviate formality in open, social spaces; patterned swings and adjacent groupings of cushioned furniture overlook the city to create an “urban porch” setting; a found antique table combined with unique lighting, bold patterns, and accents of color establish a relaxed environment in the café, encouraging informal employee interaction as well as accommodating collaborative work. Knots, rings, and ridges in rustic White Oak complement a raw exposed concrete ceiling and textured carpet to suggest a degree of honesty and authenticity in design, while clean lines and edges provide a refined, sophisticated aesthetic.
