IIDA New England, 2016
Designed for international and U.S. travelers alike, the intention was to embrace the strong connection between the hotel’s historical location in Lafayette Square and Paris. The design concept for the Sofitel Washington, D.C. exudes elegance, taking inspiration from the history and iconic designs of Paris and Washington, D.C., combining and celebrating both cultures. Featuring a cosmopolitan allure, the Art Deco inspired architecture is artfully blended with French-inspired contemporary interiors, the bijou of luxury hospitality.
In the reimagined suites, iconic blue inspired styles and memorable décor as seen in Marie Antoinette’s room in Versailles and Jacqueline Kennedy’s room in the White House create an authentic and memorable guest experience. Luxurious blue grey fabrics, finely forged metals and beautifully detailed furniture complete the space while bringing both the French and American cultures together; expressing that life is truly “magnifique.” The typical guest room features a strong geometric dark carpet and rich red accents that are reflected in the lacquered cream and black furniture.
