Suffolk Downs Shortlisted to World Architecture Festival Awards!
On the heels of a national AIA Award, the Suffolk Downs Master Plan receives international recognition as a finalist in the 2022 World Architecture Festival!
The World Architecture Festival celebrates excellence in architecture and design across the globe, bringing to light some of the “most outstanding projects in the world.” Suffolk Downs was selected from an impressive pool of entries representing more than 50 countries to be shortlisted in WAF’s 2022 Future Projects – Masterplanning category. Finalists will present their projects to a live jury at the 2022 World Architecture Festival, which will take place in Lisbon, Portugal this November. We couldn’t be prouder to see Suffolk Downs recognized on the international stage, and we can’t wait until November!
The Suffolk Downs master plan transforms a 161-acre former horse racing facility into a highly resilient, transit-oriented, mixed-use development, harnessing the site’s natural assets to introduce a vibrant coastal community. The new plan will restore valuable space to community use, introducing 10,000 units of housing, nearly 6 million square feet of life science, office, hotel, and retail space, significant transit infrastructure, and 40 acres of public open space. Integration of valuable ecological assets with daily community activity will transform this environmentally vulnerable site into a thriving neighborhood, while strategically embracing imminent sea level rise.
