CBT Wins TWO Rethinking the Future Awards!

Happy 2/22/22!! No better time to announce that CBT has been recognized with TWO Rethinking the Future Awards!!

This February, both 121 Seaport and the Abu Dhabi Climate Resilience Initiative were honored with Second Awards in the 2022 Rethinking the Future Awards (in the Commercial and Urban Design categories, respectively), selected from a wide range of projects featuring design innovations from around the world.

The Abu Dhabi Climate Resilience Initiative is a citywide public realm improvement program that focuses on improving pedestrian thermal comfort levels in an outdoor desert climate through a series of tactical urban interventions. The initiative leverages international collaborations between urban designers, climate scientists, engineers, and landscape architects to explore creative heat mitigation strategies in one of the hottest cities in the world.

A LEED Platinum-certified building, 121 Seaport thoughtfully responds to its context – both present and future – to introduce a bold new building that diversifies both skyline and streetscape. From grand urban gestures to an intimate ground level lobby and pedestrian plaza, 121 Seaport considers the impact of its design from all scales – as both a landmark destination and meaningful human environment.

We are especially thrilled to announce the news of CBT's 2022 Rethinking the Future honors, as the recognition follows a trend in award pairings which CBT has received in the last year, including:
-    2 WAN award nominations in August 2021 (Eco-Residences 2 and Suffolk Downs Master Plan)
-    2 IIDA New England Awards in September 2021 (Veson Nautical and Analysis Group New York)
-    2 AIA New England Awards recognitions including a “Best of Boston” Award from the BSA in October 2021 (Woburn Public Library)
-    2 AIA recognitions in January 2022 including an AIA national award for Regional & Urban Design (Suffolk Downs Master Plan) and a Boston chapter (BSA) award for Accessible Design (UMASS Lowell Coburn Hall)

Congratulations to all on a fantastic achievement, and we look forward to more exciting projects to come!
