Post @ 200 Smith reimagines an existing United States Postal Service processing center as a vibrant work community by converting the sprawling environment into a collective of fresh, cohesive workspaces. From the original one-story warehouse, loading docks, and three-story office building, this dramatic repositioning effort provides a new 50,000-square-foot mezzanine and increase total rentable space to approximately 430,000 square feet.
By recycling much of the industrial aesthetic of the original building, the new Post @ 200 Smith recalls a manufacturing past, featuring exposed steel and large areas of reclaimed wood cladding. Former loading docks were repositioned as terrace and retail spaces running the length of the building. A new courtyard was carved out of the original building to introduce light and a new common gathering space, designed to host anything from intimate gatherings to large-scale events.
