The Grand Orlando Resort at Celebration

This transformation of a vintage 1990s budget hotel, now under new ownership, is as day to night. And, this is not just a metaphor: natural light now brightens reimagined common areas; windows frame lush greenery. Once a dark rabbit-warren, the guest lounge is light and spacious, calmly and crisply welcoming.

A comprehensive hospitality reinvention, the design stripped away all vestiges of its former low-cost hotel self, developing a brand-new palette and guest experience through distinctive design. The scope instructed complete revitalization: façade refresh, porte-cochere, and pool deck redesign, and re-envisioning common areas with modern aesthetics, technology, and smartly-appointed spaces—all to create a warm welcome for today's hybrid traveler.

Now, guests enter a newly expansive ground-level lobby in shades of sand and wood with touches of water-evoking blues. Still within the former footprint, the removal of interior walls and the amenity space program's reorganization creates a graceful flow between the lobby's distinct areas: guest reception, lobby bar, and main lounge.

Inspired by Florida's lakes and ancient natural springs, the designers drew from this regional backdrop to create the lobby's aesthetic. Organic materials, textures, and patterns—like the live-edge wood of common table and lobby bar and side tables of raw iron patterned with the circular ripple of a tree-ring—create a gentle, natural tone in a quiet way. Water's hues and forms inspire details: a blue ombre rug is a cool pool at the lounge’s center, while wall-covering features a gentle wave pattern and a rippling blue lighting element distinguishes the bar.

Reinvented today, from program to palette, this Floridian resort channels the surrounding springs' energy, offering guests a deep dive into rejuvenation and a haven-away-from-home.
