The scope of work included the complete demolition of the current lounge spaces

CBT design transformed the under-utilized common space into inviting lounges working within Boston College’s finish and furniture campus standards. Each lounge space is located near the entry and lobby and the design provides connection and transparency between theses spaces. Through the strategic placement and generous use of glass students can see and be seen. With a fresh color palette, new furniture, finishes and materials, these once empty spaces are now vibrant hubs of activity fostering social and collaborative learning opportunities.

Each lounge provides three distinct zones and individual requirements which included a collaborative social lounge with media equipment, a quiet group study lounge with flexible seminar space, and a serene contemplative room for group meditations and counseling. The scope of work included the complete demolition of the current lounge spaces and provided new finishes, millwork, lighting, and air conditioning. New furniture was specified, bid, and installed. The lounges are accessible to all students on campus and the design provides secure access to the floors for residents of the building.
